Well - where do I start??????
First of all - I would just like to say - JO.... you are a legend! For those Bulkington members who came to Brean, I don't think any one of us managed to get away without seeing a very drunk Jo... whether that was the Friday night or the Saturday.
Jo provided the teams with great laughs and talking topics for many months to come, with her key word of the weekend being: LOSERS! lol
Jo not only played (heaven knows how she managed to do that after the nights before) but also lasted both nights... participating in a little 'friendly' rivalry with some neighbouring teams, and some very friendly antics with stars on the karoke. If they weren't ready on stage within a minute of their name being called - Jo willingly took up position, sometimes to the unsatisfaction of the DJ!
Secondly - the C TEAM! What an effort. After banning Ali from playing at the start of Sunday morning due to still being a little tipsy, the team made it through to the knock-out rounds (even with Amy playing in her afro! which was highly amusing). However, all teams had played well that morning and had all made it through. Therefore Ali stepped into the helm. The A & B team got knocked out after the same amount of matches, but the C team were still going strong. They had to conquer local rivals Stockton in the semi-final, which they did magnificantly and earned themselves a well deserved place in the final.
I have never witnessed so much tension at what we kept on referring to as a 'social tournament'. At half time in the final Bulkington were down by about 3 or 4 goals - however they pulled it back and played really well (particularly in defence) and so when the full time whistle was blown, the teams were level pegging. Therefore extra time was played, and the teams had been told that if they were still drawing at the end of extra time (2 mins each way) then it would go down to golden goal.
With most of the team hungover and a very nervous Lindsey, the team played their hearts out - and unfortunately ended up being beaten in the golden goal scenario - however still a good end to a great weekends netball.
I can't go without mentioning the club's fancy dress - and in particular our grannies! How fab were they! They were horny little grannies too - did you see them with the grandads! Very funny! All in good spirits. They managed to steal the show from all other fancy dress participants, and were very amusing getting down and jiggy with it with the help of their walking sticks (Tracey, I hope you disinfected them before giving them back!)
Our fancy dress theme looked great - and a tremendous effort made by all. Well done girls, and thanks for a fab weekend!
