A huge congratulations to all 4 Teams as we close the season with a series of very successful end of season final league placings:

A Team (Premier Division) finished 5th with the 2nd best defensive record in that division

C Team (Div 3) finished 1st with the BEST defensive record in the division- PROMOTED TO DIV 2 next season
D Team (Div 4) finished 3rd with the BEST defensive record in the division

These are an amazing set of results which so our Club strength throughout the Teams. Special congratulations to the C Team who were very deserved winners of Div 3 and will be promoted to Div 2 next season- how great it will be to have 3 teams in the top 3 divisions!

Thanks to everyone who coached, umpired, reserved and supported over the course of the season- our Club just wouldnt exist without all of you.

From Tracey Wheatley - D Team Captain:

With a mixture of teenagers and a couple of veterans we had the perfect recipe in the D team which gave us a fantastic start to the season with back to back wins.

As captain I was truly blessed with a squad of ladies who were committed and supportive throughout and who didn’t complain about my regular team changes. As we neared Christmas we had our first disappointing result, and a couple more disappointing results haunted us in January, but we still all remained optimistic.

Our optimism paid off during February as we returned to our previous form, but we knew what we needed to do for the remaining season if we were to ensure promotion.

With the superb support of reserve players Kerrie, Liz and later defender Amy we nearly achieved the result we wanted. Despite a fabulous sustained effort throughout the season by everyone who played for the D team, unfortunately we missed out on promotion to division 3 by just one point.

We were all totally gutted. However on a positive note, the D team defense deserve a huge round of applause for there fantastic defensive record. In comparison to any other team in division 4 they allowed the fewest goals to be scored past them. So well done ladies, you are officially the best in division 4!!!

Hopefully next year we will get the promotion the club deserves to fill the gap in division 3 created by the triumphant C team, and we will at last get the success we worked so hard for this year with our amazing team effort.

Many thanks to the rest of the club for all the support you provided throughout the season, yelling and cheering us on from the sideline. Thanks also to the coaches and the umpires. Speaking from my own vast experience over the last 28 years in this league, we have the best of both within our club.

Finally, a huge thanks to all the D team for making this season, my first ever as captain, enjoyable and very easy. Take note any future prospective captains, the D team are a dream team to captain. Enjoy your summer break but remember to come back to us for the start of the next season, you know it makes sense!

Happy holidays!

From Lisa Wright - C Team player

After returning from having a baby I was extremely nervous. Having never played with Amz and Lynz before the season was set to be interesting. I remember at training Mandie saying You'll win that league and I never believed it. I felt fortunate to play with 6 ex premier players but worried as never having played premier myself I would let the side down.

After playing our first game I knew we had something specail Amz is awesome (yes Abi you were right!). Having initially being disappointed with being selected as WA I could see why I wasn't centre. I found the start of the season hard but my team mates were brilliant giving me bucket loads of support and a slap (thanks Kim). We just went from strength to strength then Lynz the jetsetter had a couple of holidays which meant Fran stepping up -she never let us down and slotting in well. Ali was awesome at GA, GS and a brilliant captain who led the team well and kept us focused.

Our defence was awesome and i always thought they would be. Kim, Jo and Jackie were unstoppable. They rescued the attack when we got a little complacent.
Our super sub Riz or Gadget as I affectionately know her was brilliant and certainly toughen up through the season.

Then there is our mother hen Lynz despite hitting 40 it never showed she look after us young ones (well me and Amz anyway), and ran round for me when I was little bit fatter than I am now.

This season has been the best by far not because we won then league undefeated but because I have gained some many new friends. I think bulkington has grown as a club because we have such a great network of support.  Mandie, Tracey, Liz, Lynz and Amz have been a fantastic addition to the club and have blended in well with us oldens.

A big thanks need to be said for the umpires, coaches and commitee without there work this club wouldnt run if everyone does there bit this club will only continue to grow.

What an awesome season well done bulko.
