A great start to the season in a wind dominated match!
The game started well, if not slightly nervous for Bulkington as Lemington started with 6 players as their Goalshooter was stuck in traffic. She got to the game towards the end of the first quarter, but this didn't seem to affect Bulkington's performance, still streaking well ahead of Lemington at half-time. Having never played together, and with two new payers to the club, Bulkington 'gelled' well during their first game, particular Jo and Kim in defence, who seemed like they had played together for years. This was noticed by a Lemington player who at three-quarter time asked how long they had played together, with Kim replying 'Just 45 minutes!'
The attack improved throughout the game learning to adapt to how each other play and in the last quarter performing best with short passes around the circle, backing each other up and working well together. In the extreme conditions the shooters shot particularly well, especially Alison who was named by Lemington as their voted player of the match. There were also some fantastic interceptions from the defence, Kim, Jo and Jackie. The game was quite physical and tough but overall Bulkington powered through storming to a great first match victory and a fantastic team effort. Following this encouraging performance the tean look forward to a brilliant season ahead of us .
