Opposition: Henley D
Final Score: 43 - 16 (win)
Players Player: Amy Thompson
We knew Henley was going to be a difficult game, especially as we were playing a night game on their training night - so we knew they'd have plenty of support. We took the court minus Jo who was on holiday so once again we had Sarah and Rhian reserving. We rejigged the team slightly. Jackie was still feeling a little gentle so played GK which meant Kim moving to GD and Sarah played WD.
Henley had some very strong players in their team which meant it wasn't an easy game. We started quite slowly and it took a while for us to get into the game. Once Ali and Lynz got their eye in, they were unstoppable. The attack found it a difficult task against a young defence but used the experience of Amz and Lisa to work the ball round into a good position.
After such a good result against Coventry Sports the defence had high standards to maintain. Jackie was dynamic at GK coupled with Kim's experience they were a force to be reckoned with. Sarah had a hard task against an experienced WA but once again worked well with Amy to keep the Henley attack pinned.
At half time we had a change. Jackie moved to WD and Rizla went to GK. Rhian was fantastic and made shooting a hard task. You could see Kim was enjoying a run out at GD and it showed in her game. She used her height and strength to her advantage. What can you say about Amy - as usual she got players player and it was well deserved. No other player on the court was anywhere near her in effort and energy she is definitely the heart of the C team at centre.
In the final quarter with Jackie totally shattered and still getting over her illness the decision was made to bring Sarah back on at WD. The defence continued to play strongly as too did the attack!! Lynz had obviously been taking notes whilst watching the England Game as she had several "Cookie moments". She shook her partner off easily and shot excellently.
We won 43 -16, and continued our good form. A big thank you to our support and super subs.
