C Team | Match Reports

28th February 2009

Opposition:                Coventry Sports Foundation

Final Score:                51 - 19 (win)

Players Player:         Amy Thompson

The C team took the court minus Jackie who managed to get food poisoning whilst sunning herself in Sri Lanka, so Sarah stepped into the helm. We started the game with a flourish scoring 7 goals before we conceeded 1. With Lynz back in the side after taking some rest bite!!! (or shall we say holidaying too much) the attack was working well and the ball moved smoothly around the court and into Ali who was shooting superbly. By quarter time the score was 14 - 5.

The second quarter we gave the defence a distinct target to not conceed more than 5 goals. Kim and Jo as usual never let us down and marked the shooters expertly, forcing them to score from difficult positions. Sarah organised the defence and work well with Amz and together made the Coventry Sports attack work hard to get the ball to the circle.

We went into the 3rd quarter with a 27 -10 lead. Bbulkington were going from strength to strength - Centre passes were working well, Lisa and Lynz moving the ball up the court with ease. Amz was having her usual superb game, intercepting and attacking well. Ali was shooting accurately. Sarah and Jo marked their partners well which left little for Kim to do but when the ball got near to the shooters Kim either picked the ball out the air or snatched in the rebound. Both attack and defence maintain their standards and went in the final quarter leading 41 - 15

In the final quarter Coventry Sports made several changes with only two players staying there original positions which showed their versatility. Ali was marked tightly but her experience caused her partner to back off a little! We tried to change our play for the final quarter which forced us to work hard moving the ball diagonally up the court. This game was a difficult game for Kim as the ball rarely got in to the circle but she maintained her usual high standards. Amy whizzed up and down the court. Lisa and Lynz continued to pass the ball well between them. Jo and Sarah's experience showed, rarely allowing the ball to get passed them.

Overall Bulkington were pleased with the result a win of 51 - 19. The defence kept to their difficult target of 20 goals for the game. This game showed how strong the C team work as a team and how strong we are defensively. A big thank you to Anne for umpiring, the super sub Tracey and the support and coaching from Annie and Sarah Kennedy
