The weather conditions from the start proved to be the biggest obstacle in this weekend’s game. Driving torrential rain and windy conditions throughout.

Unusually for the team we only had seven players, and we were without our usual GS Fran, but Mel who has happily played nearly every position without complaint this season so far, stepped into the breach to play GA allowing Tracey to play GS. Without a spare set of legs and without our usual tall GS we were apprehensive at the start of the game. 

Passing needed to be controlled and kept to short distances, and the wet conditions meant that quick nifty footwork was almost impossible. However, for the first 3 quarters the D team played to the best of their ability under the circumstances. A steady defence by Rhian, Sarah and Ang, and accurate shooting meant that by the end of the third quarter we were winning comfortably 21 – 10.

Then in the fourth quarter Hinckley made a significant change to their attack and they put together a brilliant fight back, eventually only losing incredibly by 4 goals.

It certainly gave us all a fright at the end, but due to the change to our usual team and the severe weather conditions we were happy with the win and 3 points.
