Final Score:               43 - 34 (lost)

After fabulous navigating by Sarah Grindal to their ground, we arrived without two of our usual squad members Abby Fairbrother and Rhian Palanganda who were both unavailable for this game. Sarah had been ill earlier in the week herself and was expecting to manage only half a game. However, Clare Wetton and Kerrie West agreed to play to fill in the missing gaps. Kerrie agreeing to play with very little notice before the start of the game.

The game started with Clare playing GD for Rhian and Kerrie playing WA, and during the 1st quarter there was very little difference between the teams, and it ended 11 goals each.

Stockton was able to feed into the shooter accurately and very few shots were missed. Clare covered the court well despite very little previous experience in the GD position, it certainly didn’t show. At half time we were leading 24 goals to 18. Then following too many passing mistakes, we ended the 3rd quarter two goals behind, at 31 to 33 to Stockton.  

Again during the last quarter, we made a lot of unforced errors which they took advantage of, and with their huge obvious home support celebrating their gifted chances, the game ended 43 – 34 to Stockton.

Mel’s hard work and ability to adapt to different positions helped to reward Mel with the player of the match.
