Following the cancellation of the girls first game of the season, they were very eager and excited to play their first game and determined to win!
They began the morning putting 100% into their proffesional warmup, after the advice from Amy (coach for the morning) if you do it properly and it looks good it will probably 'scare' the opposition. For the first game captain was Frankie who lead the team well in the warmup and throughout the game. The starting lin up was GK Alice, GD Frankie, WD Skye, C Megan, WA Sophie, GA Amber and GS Ellie. On the side was Rhianne who came on at half time.
It was Skye and Ellies first game for the club and both settled in well and played great. The shooting combination of Ellie and Amber performed better than well.theyreadeach other well and both shot like professionals! Well done girlies! Ellie held her space strong and Amber made some great runs losing her opponant many times. Next time they just need to remeber to go for the rebounds instead of standing there watching if their shot goes in and if they master that Im sure they will be a shooting force all teams will be scared of :). Megan and Sophie played well in attack, putting some brilliant balls into Ellie and Amber. They worked well together and also defended great getting lots of interceptions. After half time Rhianne came on at WA. Rhianne is the youngest member of the squad, but this didn't show. She read the game well, with lots of interceptions and some brilliant passes.
Skye played well atWD, defending her opponant tightly. She got some great interceptions but now must work on chasing the ball after and get a bit more aggression...as I kept saying, you WANT the ball! Frankie and Alice were superb in the circle, picking up the majority of passes and feeds, which is reflected in the scoreline! The GS didn't hardly get a look in against Alice and Frankie picked up many interceptions throughout the court as well as in the circle.
Overall a brilliant game which the whole team should all be so proud of. Right from the start Bulkington led and didn't look back and just continually pulled away!
Bring on the next game :D
