On a cold, frosty Saturday morning Bulkington took to the court prepared for a tough game after looking at Godiva’s previous results and Godiva being a similar position in the table.  As the game began, a close game definitely looked inevitable.  Due to the cold conditions, several Bulkington and Godiva players slipped, leading to after one quarter, the game to be rearranged.  Thanks to Courtney for coming

The following Tuesday, even more colder than the Saturday previous, Bulkington once again took to the court, ready to go into the Christmas break with a win.  But this wasn’t going to be easy......

The solid Godiva defence made the Bulkington shooting team of SJ and Sue under immense pressure.  Any lose balls into or in the circle were picked up by the opposition and sent down the other end. Kim and Stace worked hard and put the Godiva shooters under the same amount of pressure, picking up some great interceptions.  All the centre court players worked well, and with Tracey’s experience up and down court the ball was flowing well and some great interceptions picked up.

The first half was close all the way through, with just one or two goals in it from start to finish.

At half time, the decision was made to swop Amz to centre, Jenni to WD and Tracey to WA.  We started the third quarter slowly, adjusting to the changes, meaning Bulkington slipped to about 5 goals behind Godiva.  Once adjusted, some great interceptions from Kim, Stace, Jen and Amz, meant Bulkington managed to reduce this back to just one goal. At three-quarter time, Bulkington made one final change to the attack, and swapped Sue and SJ, the height and strong circle defence of Godiva had caused problems for the Bulkington attack throughout.  Sue held her position well and SJ’s movement as GA was great.  The final result was a draw.  Both teams should be commended on their determination and fight throughout, giving the spectators a great game.  Thanks to all the Bulkington supporters who came to cheer us on.
