On another cold, blustery and wet Saturday Bulkington took to the court determined not to lose again! We had our full team and were quietly confident after our group warm up which got us in the mood.
As we got into the first quarter we bagan steadily moving the ball around well and getting some good interceptions, but we soon realised how lethal the Harbury shooters were. They were able to shoot from anywhere in the circle and before we realised we were 6 goals down. We didnt panic, played controlled netball and SJ and Sue were also both on fire in the circle, getting some great shots in, so we ended the first quarter just one goal down.
After a good team talk from Jackie and Rosie, we went into the second quater determined to try and pull away from Harbury. Tracey and Amy worked hard at breaking down the pass from the attack into the circle and in doing so managed to get some brilliant interceptions. But they were still getting almost every shot in and the quarter was goal for goal, and we ended it just one goal up. The attack played well, creating some great space, and some good balls into the circle.
Determined to try and take the lead away from Harbury, Bulkington decided to make a few changes, moving Jen to WD, Tracey to WA and Amz to C. This worked well and the ball flowed great along the court. Kim, Stacie and Jen had brilliant second halves, with lots of tips and interceptions to deny the Harbury shooters.
As the second half continued, the attack continued to work hard around and in the circle creating lots of triangles :). Sue had her best game of the season and she actually enjoyed it :) and her and SJ played awesome together, allowing us to eventually run away with the lead. It was a strong team performance, and probably the best we have played together all season. Well played guys :). Thanks to all the supporters who came, it was brilliant to have that level of support (even tho many had just come for the rumoured picnic and hot chocolate!! Its nice to be the most popular team...even if its not because of our netball!!!)
