C Team | Match Reports 7th December 2009 Opposition: Highway B
Final Score: 43 - 41 (win)
Players Player: Lisa Taylor
On a relatively mild Monday evening, Bulkington were set to play Highway B after agreeing to bring forward the Saturday's fixture. The lights were flickering and the we could not see the ring on the post from some parts of the court but we soldiered on to start the game…. After a tough Saturday game, and a club netball night out on the Sat - I think there were a few hangovers still kicking around when we started the game, and despite a few errors on court we managed to play well in the first quarter gaining a lead of a few goals. However, Highway must have have taken on rocket fuel at quarter time as they came back onto court for the 2nd quarter with venom and speed. The seemed to play down the court with great ease and put some fantastic balls into the circle - and despite our dynamic defence getting some fab tips and interceptions Highway managed to claw back our lead and take the advantage. They were quite unstoppable at one point gaining a lead of about 8 or 9 goals over the 2nd and third quarters. Unfortunately we seemed to panic a little whilst trying to get the ball back into our shooting area, and made some more unforced errors when moving the ball into the attacking end which gave a few goals away to Highway. But, we also had moments of really good play with some tremendous feeds in from Lindsey to Fran. Luckily our shooting was on and we were generally able to capitalise on most of the shooting opportunities we had to work so hard for. Moving into the final quarter we were 6 goals down. Yes we were down, but certainly not out. After some more words of wisdom from our super supporter Amy - we took to the court knowing that we wanted to work our socks off to pull back Highway's lead…. We played some great netball and pulled together well as a team to continue to work hard to get the ball back. Our hard work paid off in that we finished the game being just two goals down - 43 - 41. We ended the game in good play and with a lot of fighting spirit…. Showing a strong will to bring back to score - well done girls… we'll get them next time! A well deserved players player was Lisa - who again ran her socks off to keep Bulkington in the game! Well done luvvie! A HUGE thanks to Mel as always - our super sub.... and to Amz- our super supporter!
