14th November 2009

Opposition:                Offchurch
Final Score:                51 - 22 (win)
Players Player:         Rhian Palanganda (again!)

It was a cold and windy day at Offchurch. Bulkington were in very good spirits and had great support for so a game so far out. Mel was there to sub and Amz was there as cheif support, coach and mentor - armed with a very appropriate coat - thanks Kerrie she fit in with the surroundings so well. A mention should also go to Kerries husband who supported us well (from the car!!!!)

We weren't sure how this game would go as Offchurch had been relegated from division 1. We started the game well. Fran and Rhian had several layers on which they needed its was extremely blustery. Lynz had a great game and dominated the attack we won the first quarter 12 -5, with the defence making some excellent interceptions on a very slippery surface.

We went in the second quarter feeling confident with our performance but not with the surface. The centres went out with ease and Kerrie and Fran shot strongly with a little help from the wind. Jaks and Jo intercepted all over the court well Rhian rarely allowed the GS and GA chance to shoot picking up most of the balls fed into the circle. We pulled away and went into the third quarter with a 23 -9 lead.

At half time we had a swap around in defence allow Rhian out for a run to warm up a little but. Jo went to WD and Jaks went to GK. Jaks was awesome getting loads of interceptions and even taking out the umpire at one point by sliding off the court into the gravel. Rhian and Jo continue to move the ball well up the court even with Rhian stalking at times!!!!! (Frans words not mine). The attack continued to work well and despite Fran having a taller keeper, moved easily around the circle and slotted the shots in well with Kerrie converting most rebounds.

Offchurch pulled the lead back and we went into the final quarter 39 -18 ahead with a target of 55 -25 to reach by full time. Lynz and Lisa continued to feed the shooters well with a little help from the wind at times. We moved the defence back to its original positions and Bulkington continued to work well as a team. The defence were intercepting all over the court - Jo had a blinder.

We won the game 51 -22 a brilliant result restoring our confidence as a team.

Rhian well deserved players player there was barely a ball she didn't tip or intercept and after our team meal (well McDonalds anyway) Rhian was given a good target to stop being so nice!!!! maybe then someone else would stand a chance of getting player.
