14th October 2009

Opposition:                Ambleside
Final Score:                40 - 20 (win)
Players Player:         Rhian Palanganda

Arriving at ambleside for a rearranged fixture on a autumnal Wednesday evening we found the footballers playing so have to warm up in the car park or round and round the round about.
We took the court a little nervous but full of confidence and with great support. The taylor boys were out in force. Amanda "the traitor" Massey (only joking!!!) and the club mascot Millie, Liz, Chinny, Ab Tabs, Margaret and once again Ali "the don" McHugh as coach.

The game was decided before the first ball was passed. After seeing Ambleside conduct there warm up by eating several bags of chips, Bulkington ran around the carpark in enthusiastic preparation, there could be only one winner.

The first quarter seemed very one sided with Fran contributing on at least six occasions & from the side lines it was amazing that it finished only 6-8. It was only due to some strong defending from Ambleside & some loose play from Bulkington that the game wasn’t over by then. Lisa was industrious as centre & seemed to be everywhere making excellent passes to Fran.

After an excellent team talk from the don McHugh we went into the second quarter full of confidence Ambleside came out strong and pulled the score back to 11 - 12 at one point. Lynz despite being marked tightly controlled the attack and made some excellent runs and even interceptions!!!! Lisa did the splits at one point much to her husbands delight!!!! The defence pulled some excellent interceptions with Jo and Rhian talking well and Jaks not giving the WA much space ensured we won the second quarter 11 -19.

Half time brought sweeties well hidden from the spectators after last weeks game. Ambleside were tiring and Bulkington went all out. Nothing seemed get passed Rhian and Jo " Maggie May" Croxford they only let 2 goals in in the third quarter. Ali instructed the attack to play slightly differently which work well. Kerrie and Fran were popping them in from all over "Bend and Push". Margaret was giving us some excellent tips from the side lines which helped Lisa loads "take a breath lisa" I needed it honestly!

Our aim in the final quarter was to not allow Ambleside within half our score. Rhian was awesome and so was Jaks pinning the attack down making lots of interceptions. Kerrie's knee held out well and between her and Lynz worked the ball easily around the attack. Towards the end of the game the supporters shouted one more and that we did slotting a shot in the final seconds.

Rhian was awarded player by Ambleside who was brilliant despite her and Fran playing a college game before it never showed once. The team worked well with great support from Jo and Jaks bringing the ball up the court to ease the passage into attack... and the attack doing some excellent defending with Kerrie contributing to interceptions. Great game girls!!!!
