It is true to say that an apprehensive Bulkington team turned up for the evening match feeling a little nervous after the previous encounter with Leamington had ended in a convincing defeat!

Perhaps one of the most nervous amongst us was out GS - Ali, standing in for the poorly Fran.... nervous perhaps at coming into such a tough game but also for the nasty back injury she is still recovering from.

The game started very evenly and Ali need not have worried because both her and Kerrie's shooting was 'spot on' and at the end of the 1st quarter the score was all square at 7 each.

The 2nd quarter was fought our equally evenly but Bulkington displayed a great deal of determination so by half time we had taken a slight lead of 17 - 13.

The half time team talk was full of optimism and Bulkington began to believe that they were capable of beating their accomplished opposition. Leamington felt the need to make several changes to their team showing Bulkington genuinely worried them.

The 3rd quarter was closely contested but still Bulkington held onto the lead with each player on court playing her part. By this stage the wind had picked up making playing conditions difficult, and going into the final quarter Bulkington were still ahead 23-20.

It was at this stage something within the Bulkington camp changed... perhaps fitness or focus or even weather conditions and nerves.... Whatever the reason Leamington managed to pull level and within the last few minutes gain a 2 goal lead! The disappointment within the whole of the Bulkington team was apparent....

Having been so close to winning it was a very bitter pill to swallow but the Bulkington C can only take lessons from this defeat.... never give up and lets make sure we don't lose in this fashion again. Come on C team - let's make the rest of the season ours!!!!
