What can I say, a very cold day - Kerrie though took some inspiration from the Jamacian team and wore some very fetching leggings (go faster leggings!) We looked at opposition and thought 'oh god' they are all young whipper snappers.... but we were confident that experience would win over. With the return of the don (Ali McHugh) we were determind to show our improvement. We also had great support again from our top supporters Sue, Amz and Stacey and it was great to see Sarah Grindall and Margaret Manuel (thanks ladies!)
 
The first quarter we were strong and Jo (now retired) was superb against a girl who probably wasn't born when she started in the police force!!!! Rhian was her usual brilliant self and soon got her partner sussed. The attack worked brilliantly as a unit and Kerrie had a brilliant start working well with Fran, both of whom shot with accuracy we won the first quarter 12 -1. (Although we did come off the court quite shocked at how 'competitive' these little people were!)
 
After some excellence tips from Ali who we were all so excited to see!! We took the court confident. Lynz had a new opponent but this didn't deter her she quickly adjusted her game and dominanted the attack with some excellent feeds into Fran who was holding well against a very springy keeper which made it difficult to feed the ball into her. At one point Lisa did call to Fran 'Fran... which way are you going?' to which Fran responded 'I dont know.....' !!!!!! Jaks definately had had her weetabix for breakfast this morning she was intercepting all over the place and working hard bringing the ball up the court - even feeding some long balls into Fran helping us to go into half time with a 23 - 4 lead. (We did tell her after she had done it once that that was enough!)
 
After half time sweeties (well what was left of them...) Copsewood became much stronger opponents and marked very tightly which surprised us. But we soon settled and marked our players equally as tight. Kerrie and Lynz made some awesome interceptions which we quickly converted. Kerrie and Fran worked brilliantly and shot equally well meaning we went into the final quarter 40 -9.

Moving into the last quarter with a tough target set by Ali (I think Fran was quite shocked when it was set) but as a team we went all out defending hard and work well as a team. We made a few silly mistakes but Rhian, Jo and Jaks quickly turned the ball over for Kerrie and Fran to convert. Lynz and Lisa both defended hard and move the ball up the court well. Jo had excellent game despite being slightly over the limit - its lucky we don't get breath tested before our games. We won the game 51-9 almost achieving our target - see Fran we can do anything we set our minds too.

Thanks to all our supporters we would be the same without you. I think ever player deserved players player this week. Kerrie had her best game this season, Fran's shooting was accurate, Lynz was strong and fed the ball beautifully, Lisa ran her heart out as usual, Jaks barely let her partner have any free space, Jo even slightly drunk intercepted well and Rhian our usual star player was brilliant picking up some excellent interceptions. So my players player was the C team
