D Team | Match Reports 3rd October 2009 Opposition: Whitnash
Final Score: 30 - 18 (win)
Players Player: Tracey Wheatley
The first game and home game for the Bulkington D team saw them off to a great start of the season with quite a convincing win under their belt. The wind made it very difficult to get the ball down the court and get the goals in but with a combined effort from all the team and with player’s player Tracey (GS) and Melanie Price (GA) shooting on form the team still managed to secure a win. Lindsay Kennedy (WA) arrived just before the start of the game due to her flight landing at Birmingham airport only an hour before the game started, and Emilie Morris (WD) arrived just as late due to her watching the Coventry City football match, so it is fair to say that the team hadn’t had much time for tactics, and ball skills etc. However, this did not stop them taking an early lead with the score at the end of the first quarter 12 – 4. The team stayed the same going into the 2nd quarter, where Whitnash started to pull back the goals. The score at the end of the quarter was 20-11. At half time two changes were made, Becky Garbett (C) who had already played for the C team earlier that day came off with Lindsay taking over the centre role, and Christine May made Lindsay’s replacement at wing attack. In the third quarter the Whitnash defence started to put a lot of pressure on our attack, with a very strong goal keeper trying to push Tracey out of the circle and their wing defence and goal defence trying to block Mel out of the circle. However, Tracey and Mel still managed to get 5 in with the score going to 25 – 15 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The last quarter saw us pull away from Whitnash again, with good interceptions from Emilie and Angie Pallet (GK) and Charlie Chinn (GD) putting pressure on the opposition’s shooters. The final score ended up at 30 – 18 resulting in a very happy Bulkington D team. Tracey Wheatley was awarded players player by the opposition after working her way around the circle and opposition very well and getting most importantly, the majority of her shots in.
