D Team | Match Reports 12th December 2009 Opposition: LMR Rugby
Final Score: 39 -38 (win)
Players Player: Mel Price
After a very crucial win on Tuesday night, the Bulkington D team were looking to go into the Christmas break with a victory over a strong LMR team. The team started with angie at GK, Clare at GD, Emilie at WD, Charlie at C, Becky at WA, Mel and GA and captain Tracey at GS. As soon as the game got started we realised we were in for a very close game with both attacks starting well and scoring from their respective centres. However the team worked very well together and managed to sneak ahead leading the first quarter by 11 goals to 10. With the team staying the same for the 2nd quarter, we were looking to build on the very hard fought for one goal lead. This quarter went pretty much the same as the first, with both attacks getting their centres out and scoring from the majority of them. But once again the resilience of the team and the work ethic was fantastic and the team managed to add one more goal to their lead with the score ending at 22-20 at half time. During the inspiring team talk at half time (and very nice sweeties) there was a slight change to the team heading into the third quarter with Becky moving to WD and Emilie moving to WA. This change seemed to inspire the team as there were some crucial interceptions made by Angie, Clare and Becky and with Charlie doing an amazing job bringing the ball down the court and with her amazing feeds into the circle, and with players player Mel and captain Tracey shooting fantastically well the team managed to the end of the third quarter leading by four goals. (34-30) The team stayed the same for the final quarter with the team wanting to finally begin to pull away and seal the victory. However the LMR team kept pulling back and took advantage of a few silly passing errors on our part where the team managed to pull the score back to one goal. Luckily for us this is how the score stayed, wih us extremely happy when the final whistle went. The score ended 39-38 to Bulkington.
