D Team | Match Reports

17th October 2009

Opposition:                Alvis
Final Score:                28 - 39 (win)
Players Player:         Melanie Price

The D Team arrived at Alvis desperate for a win after the disappointment from last week. We started with Angie Pallet, Charlie Chinn, Emilie Morris, Becky Garbett, Christine May, Melanie Price and Tracey Wheatley. Unfortunately Clare Wetton was unable to play.

We were all fresh, warmed up and ready to go!

We started well as did they....so the first quarter ended with us being behind 9-8 (we didn't deserve to be). Nevertheless none of the team were particularly worried about being behind as we were confident that we would be able to pull it back.

The second quarter saw Christine being swapped to WD and Emilie to WA. We started to create better play throughout the court and we were able to play our own game with some fantastic passes into the circle from Emilie, accurate shooting and Linz shouting from the sidelines, we managed to pull ahead 14 - 22.

As the team change had worked so successfully we started the second half with the same line up again. With some brilliant defending from Angie and Charlie, and Charlie, Becky and Christine bringing the ball down the court so well - again with accurate shooting (and getting the few rebounds from missed shots) we pulled ahead ending the third quarter 21 - 31.

We were all feeling slightly tired by the end of the third quarter, however with the help of Tracey's sweets we returned to the court re-energised. Numerous incredible interceptions were made by Emilie and Charlie and some fantastic tips and rebounds by Angie's long arms we had plenty of opportunities to shoot. However Alvis' defence began to improve too. The attack fed in some clever and well weighted balls into the circle with Tracey netting some fab shots (with Mel getting any rebounds) - the match ended 29 - 38.

An excellent revitalised performance from Bulkington D - well done girls!
