After having an unexpected rest last week due to our game being postponed, the D team were fresh and ready fro the tough battle ahead against a very experienced Ernesford C team. Unfortunately we were not our usual line up as Charlie Chinn was not available to play and our inspirational Captain Tracey Wheatley was sidelined through illness. However we were very excited (and lucky) to have Amy Salisbury stepping into the helm and we also welcolmed the return of Dawn Formaston - who hadn' played in three years (not that it showed!)

With the rain just beginning to start the game began with Angie Pallett at GK, Amy Salisbury at GD, Emilie Morris at WD, Clare Wetton at C, Becky Garbett at WA, Melanie Price at GA and Dawn Formaston at GS. The game started well considering the terrible weather conditions and he Bulkington defence managed to get a few crucial interceptions meaning that Bulkington ended the first quarter three goals ahead (9-6).

With us being up by three goals and the weather just getting worse and worse we knew that they was no chance we could use any long passes and that we needed to maintain the standard we had in the first quarter. With some great defending, endless running from Clare and fantastic shooting from Mel and Dawn, we managed to end the second quarter leading by four goals (16-12).

Going into the third quarter Captain Tracey Wheatley (who really should have been in bed resting) decided to make a couple of changes with Claire who had played awesome at C moving to WD and Emilie going from WD to C. The team took a while to adapt to the changes which led to a poor decisions made and some loose balls meaning that Ernesford managed to get the score back to 21 all by the end of the quarter.

The team stayed the same going into the last quarter and the team were determined not to let the game slip away. The defence marked very tightly which again led to several crucial interceptions from Amy, Angie and Clare, who along with Emilie and Becky managed to get the ball down the court nicely and some fantastic feeds into the shooters Dawn and Mel who were scoring most of their shots. After a fantastic quarter and a very well fought game the team managed to pull away and evenutally winning the game 30 - 25.

A fantastic team performance considering the horrible weather, and thank you very much for the tremendous support from the other teams (most of whom had been out all day!)
