D Team | Match Reports

28th November 2009

Opposition:                Synergy
Final Score:                29 - 34 (lost)
Players Player:         Tracey Wheatley

We arrived at Alderman Smith school without Angie, but with the return of our Captain Tracey after illness. Charlie also returned after missing the last game due to swimming. As a result the defence changed with Amy moving back to GK and Clare moving to GD.

Although our confidence was up after last weeks win, we started the first quarter badly, at one point we were losing 5 - 0. The whole team helped each other get their confidence back and started to get some fantastic interceptions and netting some goals. To our relief the first quarter ended with us winning 9 - 8.

With Clare feeling a bit dodgy , she felt it was best for the team if she moved to WD, so to Emilie's shock (even though we all knew that she would do really well) she moved back to GK and Amy moved to GD. We played quite well but Synergy improved too. With some good rebounds from their GA and good interceptions by their C, the quarter finished with them in the lead 14 - 13.

Clare moved back to GK for the next quarter and Emilie moved back to WD, and as a a result of this change we began to get a lot more interceptions, however we just seemed to throw them away. Synergy only managed to increase their lead by one ending the quarter 23 - 21.

In the last quarter the team changed again, and when we started back on court we knew that we were still in with a chance of getting a win - so we started with confidence. Synergy had the first centre and scored easily. After this we continued to make a lot of unforced errors and dodgy passes, and their shooter suddenly gained some fantastic form, therefore their lead increased. However the whole team knew we needed to improve greatly and reduce their lead. With some amazing shots from Tracey and some good rebounds from Mel we managed to get some goals. The whole team were playing better with some good interceptions from Emilie, Clare and Amy and some great passes into the circle from Charlie and Becky we continued to increase our score. When the whistle blew we knew we had lost but were thankful to have reduced their lead to 5 goals.

Hopefully we can all improve next week.

We would just like to say thankyou to Amy Salisbury who has played very well over the last few weeks whilst we were short (and to her mum for the encouragement and advice - it really helped a lot!)
